Push it, push it to the limit, limit….
I have a confession to make: I’m totally addicted to something. I do it almost daily. The days I don’t get to do it, I miss it–crave it–until I can do it again.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am a workout junkie.
Whew! Feels great to get that off my chest (lol!). Yes! I absolutely love, love, LOVE exercising! I get such a high (yes, pun intended) from doing something that makes my body healthier. It feels so great!
But, as much as I love doing it, this blog isn’t about my undying love for physical fitness. Can you guess what it’s about? ***psst! hey you! look at the title!***
In working out over time, I’ve pushed past the limits I previously had. I can go faster and longer distances on the treadmill. I can lift more weight. I can deal with the grunts of the other gym-goers with more patience. (Okay, so I’m still working on the last one….)
The point is, though, that I had to first discover where my limits were. Sometimes, those limits were a little difficult to accept: “I should be able to run longer without getting out of breath,” “Why can’t I do more repetitions?” “That lady over there can lift more weight than I can…and she’s seven or eight months pregnant!!!!“ I had to honestly assess where I was and–here’s the hard part–stop comparing myself to others and decide that my current level was good enough for me. Then, once I’d done that, I could push myself to my limits. And guess what! As I kept doing that, the limits kept moving further and further away! Now I can run longer, do more repetitions, and….okay, the pregnant lady still lifts more weight than I do, but that’s just a testament to the strength of mothers everywhere. At least that’s what I keep telling myself
Pushing ourselves to our limits takes motivation, so to help you with yours, I’m including a song. Okay, so it’s really more for laughs than anything, but watch it anyway. It’s soooooooo funny
Who knows, maybe Corbin Bleu can motivate you and me both to keep pushing….
